A website using collective intelligence to tackle waste problems? "Why not?" thought Jan Schmiedgen and Christian Rudolph. After having attended a design thinking course on sustainability, the ZU master students started developing GlobalWasteIdeas. Their platform will be a kind of a specialized »Wikipedia for waste and the clever (re)use of resources« which identifies, visualizes and enables ideas that deal with waste in creative and innovative ways. Their aim is to not only broaden peoples’ understanding of waste as a valuable commodity but also to disseminate knowledge which creates new business opportunities and economic value while simultaneously preserving our environment and health.
