"View compliance not just as a purely legal issue" - this was the argument made by Prof. Dr Josef Wieland from Zeppelin University in the keynote speech he delivered on October 7 at the 10th conference of "Compliance Now!“.
The anniversary conference was all about rethinking what should be continued after the past ten years of implementing compliance management in Austria and what needed to be done afresh.
To this end, a record number of participants attending this year's event listened to Prof. Dr Wieland's remarks, in which he advocated a holistic approach that would make good conduct effective without the need for sanctions.
Prof. Dr. Wieland, with more than 40 years of experience in the field of compliance and thus an absolute luminary in the field, also emphasized that it was essential to focus on continuous processes in networks in order to create the right framework conditions for integrity.
The conference ended with the request to all compliance experts present to open their own compliance ‘treasure chests’ and stimulate new food for thought by providing mutual insights. A date for the 11th "Compliance Now" conference has already been set: it will take place on November 17 and 18, 2022.
