In 2017, the Protestant Church will be celebrating the 500-year anniversary of Martin Luther and the Reformation. The Leadership Excellence Institute Zeppelin | LEIZ, the Sozialwissenschaftliche Institut der EKD (Social Sciences Institute of the German Protestant Church) and the Evangelische Akademie (Protestant Academy) have seized this opportunity to dodge the mainstream and host an unusual joint event in Berlin.
In late October 2016, a symposium on "Luther 2017: Protestant resources of the next modernity" brought together international academics and experts in the Französische Friedrichstadtkirche in Berlin. Introducing high-profile speakers like Prof Friedrich Wilhelm Graf and Dr Manfred Gentz, LEIZ-Director, Prof Josef Wieland asked whether and how the Protestant tradition may inform the future shape of transaction processes in business, the state, and society.
