In 1991 Ukraine gained independence of the Soviet Union and has since veered between seeking closer integration with Western Europe and being drawn into the orbit of Russia. Ukraine, as Europe's second largest country faced a situation of political instability and economic crisis following the Maidan in 2014.
The presentation of Michael Heidemann will highlight the experience of Zeppelin GmbH from the crisis since 2014. For this purpose, the historical development of the country will be discussed, the genesis of the Budapest Memorandum as well as the security situation, travel restrictions, problem factors and the content of the Association Agreement. Future scenarios for Ukraine will be phrased out, the impact of the crisis on Zeppelin GmbH will be named as well as Zeppelin’s planned commitments in the country.
