Konferenz | Transcultural relations and colonial legacies

Die internationale Konferenz widmet sich transkulturellen Beziehungen und kolonialen Vermächtnissen aus europäischen und afrikanischen Perspektiven. 

In drei thematischen Schwerpunkten werden Fragen zu afrikanischem Kulturerbe und immateriellen Dimensionen der Restitution, community‑zentrierten und pluriversalen Erinnerungskulturen sowie dekolonialen digitalen Praktiken behandelt. Die Konferenz ist Teil des zweijährigen Projekts „Reframing Colonial Legacies“ (Zeppelin Universität und University of Cape Coast, gefördert durch den DAAD). 

Sie findet am 5. und 7. Mai 2026 in hybrider Form an der Zeppelin Universität in Friedrichshafen statt und richtet sich an ein internationales Publikum aus Wissenschaft und Kulturpraxis.

The international conference focuses on transcultural relations and colonial legacies from both European and African perspectives. 

Structured around three thematic areas, it addresses questions relating to African cultural heritage and the intangible dimensions of restitution, community-centred and pluriversal memory cultures, as well as decolonial digital practices. The conference is part of the two‑year project “Reframing Colonial Legacies”, co-organised by Zeppelin University and the University of Cape Coast and funded by the DAAD. 

It will take place in hybrid format at Zeppelin University in Friedrichshafen on 5 and 7 May 2026 and is aimed at an international audience from academia and cultural practice.
