At the
final symposium “AI and the society of the future” in Hannover Florian Muhle and his colleague
Matthias Orlikowski from the University of Bielefeld presented the final report
of their research project “Bots Building Bridges (3B)”, which was funded by The
Volkswagen Foundation.
The funding initiative focused on integrative research approaches of the social and engineering sciences to develop responsible solutions in the field of Artificial Intelligence for the benefit of society and investigate fundamental questions and ethical considerations for the usage of Artificial Intelligence. At the Herrenhausen Palace in Hannover researchers provided insights into their research results on topics such as human-machine-interaction, accountability & fairness, or education & science. In the panel on communication & opinion formation, which took place on Thursday, 24 th of April, Florian Muhle and Matthias Orlikowski spoke about theoretical, empirical, and technological foundations for systems that monitor and support political deliberation online.
