Course „Political Institutions“ with Prof. B. Guy Peters
Institutions are the foundation of political life. They are also central to political theory. This course will cover both institutional theory and the nature of the major political institutions. The emphasis will be on how both the theory and the empirical findings contribute to understanding the performance of political systems. Further, there will be some attempt to integrate understandings of individual political behavior with more structural explanations.
B. Guy Peters is Maurice Falk Professor of American Government, University of Pittsburgh. He is author of numerous books like "The Politics of Bureaucracy: A Comparative Perspective", "Institutional Theory in Political Science: The New Institutionalism" and "Handbook of Public Administration" and editor of ""European Political Science Review" and "Political Analysis"
