Part 1: New markets for digital goods: Open Government

| In this part, the participants gain a deep understanding of open government – the current opening of state and administration by social media and web 2.0 technologies. The course focuses on the application-oriented use of modern information and communication technology in the public sector and their results for business and new markets. The multiplicity of instruments and solutions, and the ubiquitous possibilities of the Internet offer a wide range of applications for presenting and discussing current trends.

| The participants get an overview about current concepts, models and tools of open government as well as public sector informatics, get knowledge of the new shared capabilities in government and administration, in agencies and public organizations and get used in familiarizing oneself with a few technologies not known yet.

Part 2: Social entrepreneurship

| During the second part of the module participants will gain a deep understanding of social entrepreneurship. The course offers theoretical and empirical elements of social entrepreneurship as an emerging research field and its role in civil society, as well as relevant conceptions of social innovation and social impact.
| Participants will explore the special scope of digital goods in the process of social value creation and social change. Additionally, the course serves application-oriented knowledge on the financing of social innovation and social digital business models. Case studies and assignments give participants the opportunity to apply new insights and discuss relevant questions on the topic of social entrepreneurship.
