The following examples of previous sponsoring activities are only meant as a thought-provoking impulse. Here again, in your concrete wish to become a partner of the education of the future at Zeppelin University, the motto is “we offer individuality in support”.
Thus, within the framework of the university´s purpose, the aim of the support can be determined individually and its profiles can be defined accordingly. It is here that the mutual advantage as well as the individual attraction of the close cooperation between ZU and its zu|patrons becomes visible.
Donated Chairs and Professorships Donated chairs are the classic way of supporting a university. From the stage of their establishment on, they create a special relationship between the donor, the university and the staff associated with the chair. This relationship can be represented in the basic orientation of the chair´s work as well as practically oriented research, in joint student projects and the ongoing exchange of experiences. Basically, it is also possible to finance a chair in a pool together with other patrons, to provide the position of a research assistant or to strengthen the infrastructure of the chair.
Examples | Zeppelin Chair for International Management | ZF Friedrichshafen Chair for Human Resource Management & Leadership | BBDO Chair for Media Science | Stadt Friedrichshafen Chair for Modernizing Administration
Donated Institutes and Donated Centers Due to its self-conception Zeppelin University is designed to establish institutes and centers that go beyond individual chairs and address research focuses that cover various disciplines. At these institutes and centers the decisive questions of how to shape the present and the future are addressed in the necessary larger context. People, entrepreneurs, and institutions that are especially interested in the respective focus, its systematic analysis and involvement in the research process are particularly addressed regarding the support of such institutions.
Examples | Institute for Corporate and Public Finance | Institute for Technological Management (in cooperation with IAO Fraunhofer Gesellschaft) | Institute for Innovation & Growth (e.g. in cooperation with Diehl Avionik GmbH, Linnig Trucktec GmbH, Rohwedder AG, TechniData AG, J. Wagner GmbH)
Infrastructure of the University Together with the heads, the teaching and research activities and the growing number of students the infrastructure has to grow as well. Thus, your partnership can consist of partly covering the costs of the existing or soon to be established infrastructure of Zeppelin University – alone or together with others.
Examples (not yet implemented) | additional seminar rooms including equipment (technology and furniture) | support of the student cafeteria | expansion of the library inventory – including database accesses
Events and Guest Professorships or Visiting Scholars We also appreciate the financial support that enables us to invite well-known academics or practitioners to the university for guest lectures or as visiting scholars. Additionally, events or series of lectures can be sponsored that are targeted beyond the university and aim at involving a larger audience.
Examples | Meeting of the Council of Experts on the Modernization of Administration by Oracle Germany | Series of Poetry Reading “lesen lernen” by Dr. Eberhard and Lotte Wollf, Cologne | BügerUniversität, financed by a patron who does not want to be named | Summer Party of Zeppelin University by DaimlerChrysler AG and Datenlotsen Informationssysteme GmbH
Support of Students Partnership from partner to partner. This shows the patron´s high level of interest in a qualified education of young, motivated people. And it establishes a direct relationship between the patron and the student – during the program at ZU but often also afterwards in their professional careers. Partners can support nationally as well as internationally-oriented student initiatives or projects. They can agree on performance-related corporate sponsorships or provide funds to enable excellent students and postgraduates to attend congresses and symposia abroad which are important for their development.
Examples | Low-interest pre-financing of tuition by Sparkasse Bodensee | Dr. Wiedmann Bachelor scholarship, Mayor of the Urban District of Friedrichshafen (retired) | Financial Times Deutschland, Master scholarship | brandeins, Master scholarship | BehördenSpiegel, Master scholarship | planung & analyse, Master scholarship | Udo J. Vetter Fund for Travel Grants | Ernst Susanek Best Paper Award
Untied Funds Of course we are also grateful if the university is allocated funds without explicit earmarking which can be used for the “General University Fund”. These are the means that allow us to react quickly and flexibly in the case of unforeseeable circumstances. It you take partnerships seriously, you have to put effort into them. To achieve this, upon founding the university we created a special institution that does not exist at traditional universities but that has become indispensable for Zeppelin University: The PartnerPool.
PartnerPool: Transfer between Science and Practice In its foundation Zeppelin University has established an institutional interface between the university and the institutions of business, culture, and politics. Here all topics can come together – from enquiries about lectures, research cooperations, offers for internships, topics for bachelor and master theses as well as the contacting of alumni.
